About the Show
A great day out since 1835!
The Kilmacolm and Port Glasgow Agricultural Society have held an Annual Show almost every year since 1835; the Show has only been cancelled during the wars and on outbreaks of Foot and Mouth Disease. In 2020 and 2021 we held virtual shows with prizes and community awards.
The Kilmacolm and Port Glasgow Annual Show is held at the Knapps, Kilmacolm on the second Saturday of every May. Kilmacolm is approximately 18 miles west of Glasgow, Scotland.
The Show’s competitors and visitors are of all ages and come from the local area and across the central belt of Scotland, Argyll and Ayrshire. The majority of our visitors have no links to agriculture.
Our aim is to provide a fantastic day out for the whole family which promotes local agricultural, outdoor sports, animals, arts, crafts & baking, and community spirit. We aim to provide education on agriculture, countryside/livestock awareness, history of the area and the show, farm to plate food journey, and environmental awareness. We also aim to bring trade to the local businesses and the surrounding area.
Lots to see and do!
Watch the cattle, sheep, Clydesdale horses and dogs competing in their rings, see the horses jumping and showing, and visit the Homecraft Tent to view the entries in the baking, arts and crafts classes.
There is a range of entertainment featuring vintage tractors, a pipe band, dry stone wall building, hobby horse races and dancers.
Visit the Knapps Education Experience to see and learn about animals, plants, the countryside and local heritage.
There are plenty of trade stands to browse featuring food, drinks, crafts, funfair rides and more.
See the line up on our Programme of Events page.
We are a registered charity and rely on our fantastic team of volunteers and supporters!
The Society is a registered charity (SC003709) and relies on the generosity of supporters, volunteers and sponsors to fund the show each year.
We are extremely grateful to the companies and individuals who advertise and sponsor each year; the Show could not happen without them.
There are lots of individuals who give up their time to make the show happen, some of the most dedicated are the Cross Country course builders - Jackie MacRae, Lenore Ramsay and John Beaton. A huge thank you for the hundreds of hours they spend building the courses - they spend days, evenings and nights, often wearing
headtorches and full waterproof gear, building jumps and repairing the ground to create our amazing courses. It's an enormous task every year and we are incredibly grateful for their patience, hard work and ability to keep smiling after a month in the field!
